How long did Balboa explore?

Vasco Nunez de Balboa was an explorer off and on his entire life. He came to Central America in 1500, when he was 25, and stayed in the area until he died in 1519. Balboa is famous for finding a way to cross the Isthmus of Panama to get from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean.
