Maybe half of all Americans are perfectly capable of finding themselves in one political party or another. Another half finds politics simply not for them and bravely say they are "Independents."

But the two major parties do have certain characteristics that neither would embrace publicly as a defining member.

For Republicans that would include businessmen (typically management or wanna be management,) the wealthy (the more money you have the more likely you are to vote Republican,) and the less educated.

For Democrats that would include persons of persecuted minorities (non-persecuted minorities who succeed and get rich vote Republican,) labor groups, higher educated, and the less educated.

(if you had a thousand people with less education how else would they divide but right down the middle? It's not like they could make an educated decision)

Some people put the members of the military in the Democratic column, but that is probably only true of the rank and file and not the higher-ups. Others say there is no difference in this population from the civilian population.
