To effectively perform a puncture repair on a bicycle tire, follow these steps:
- Remove the wheel from the bike and deflate the tire completely.
- Use tire levers to remove one side of the tire from the rim.
- Inspect the inner tube to locate the puncture and mark it.
- Roughen the area around the puncture with sandpaper.
- Apply rubber cement to the punctured area and let it dry for a few minutes.
- Peel off the backing of the patch and place it over the puncture, pressing firmly.
- Reinflate the tube slightly and check for leaks by submerging it in water.
- Once the patch is secure and the leak is fixed, reassemble the tire and wheel, and inflate the tire to the recommended pressure.
