Burning fossil fuels affect the environment by releasing CO2 or carbon dioxide which creates an invisible blanket in Earth's atmosphere. The blanket traps the sun's rays making the planet's temperature increase. This is called the greenhouse effect.

Deforestation removes the trees that were taking carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. So both things are contributing to global warming.
