Greek deities weren't considered good or bad. They had more significance for some than for others, based on their patronage, but none of them was a paragon of goodness the way, for instance, the Christian god tends to be. Greek deities were often considered separate from morality in their own behaviors in legend, although they still punished and honored mortals based on their own morality, and the ancient Greeks tended to put a very high value on ethical or just behavior.

Artemis was considered a protector of maidens/virgins, but also caused Actaeon to be brutally killed for (at least in some accounts) accidentally seeing her naked. She ordered Agamemnon to sacrifice his daughter, Iphigenia, in her honor for offending her, but when he finally did so, she replaced Iphigenia with a doe and sent the girl to be a priestess for her.
