Do you need an security guard permit if you have a ccw?

Having a CCW (concealed carry permit) does not replace the need for a security guard permit.

A CCW only allows you to legally carry a concealed firearm. A security guard license is completely separate and is required if you want to work as a security guard—armed or unarmed.

If you want to work as an armed security guard, most states require:

• A valid security guard license
• Additional armed guard/weapon certification
• A background check and training hours
• And your CCW alone is not enough

Rules vary by state, but in general, a CCW does not authorize you to work in security. You still need the proper guard license for employment and legal protection.
