In a standard 10 frame game, you get two throws per frame for frames 1 to 9. In the tenth frame, you get two throws plus a bonus throw for a total of three.

The minimum number of throws would be 12, this would be in a perfect game (a 300 game).

The maximum number of throws would be 21.
