the algae questionI have been wondering about the type of algaecides to use in a salt pool. In regular chlorine pools with algae, I use yellowtrine if the algae is mustard, or green, but in a salt pool I believe sodium bromide can change chlorine that is salt generated into bromine. I have no idea how much bromide can allow this to happen but I am not trying it. I have a few salt pools on my route (I own my own service business) and one has mustard algae so every week I shock it with cal hypo at a rate of 1.5lbs. per 10,000 gals and brush the pool also. another salt pool has green algae only in the trough and I also use cal hypo there . I have not been very lucky with the green algae and am not sure about copper based algaecides in salt. Iv'e used it in regular pools though with a good degree of sucess, but am not a huge fan of copper. any suggestions? Anyone?
