Who first spotted the panda?

The giant panda was first described to the Western world by French missionary and naturalist Père David in the late 19th century, around 1869. However, it is believed that the first documented sighting of the panda was by a British explorer named Thomas H. Huxley in the early 20th century. The species was later popularized through various expeditions and studies, particularly by the work of naturalists and zoologists in the early 1900s.
