Why was Josip Broz a powerful man?

Josip Broz Tito was a powerful man because he was considered the hero, liberator and founder of the nation of Yugoslavia, so any laws he created, anything at all really, was supported almost 100% by his country, and in that respect he was powerful. Additionally, he was incredibly charismatic and experienced, so he knew how to play all the leaders of the world. He could play with the USSR and the West alike, because he was on such good terms with both, and in a position to bring either to war with each other.
