Can two people play the adventure mode in Pikmin 2?

As of July 8, 2011, there is just about nothing known regarding Pikmin 3, other than the fact that it is in development.

Many players have put forward the notion that a two player story mode would be very fun, and Nintendo has often listened to fans. While the story mode will most likely involve only one player, a minor two player role could be introduced (similar to that in Mario Galaxy 2).
