Should citizens be required to serve in the military for atleast a year?

No, Here are the reasons why.

o The lives of citizens cannot be used as property of the country and it is the decisions of them that chooses what to do in their life

o In America they tried to make serving a period of military service in a war against Vietnam and many crimes were committed as result of forcing citizens into the service

o Even when soldiers survive fighting one or more wars, they often have complex psychiatric disorders related to the trauma. Therefore it should be the choice of the soldier whether or not to go to war.

o It is against democracy and free nations

o If enough people are voluntarily joining then forcing the public to do it isn't necessary

o People can serve their country in another way. It doesn't mean you have to be part of the military

o Not everyone is fit enough for the military
