Is it hard to find a girlfriend in the navy?

Finding a girlfriend is pretty easy - Marines can say what they want, but the old saying is that "A Sailor has a girl in every port", not a Marine. Ladies love sailors, God Bless them.

However, KEEPING ONE is the hard part, given the long separations that sailors deal with. It's one reason divorce rates are pretty high in the Navy. Just about every one of my old buddies I served with has been divorced at least once; I'm the rare exception, having been married almost 30 years. My situation is a bit unique though - my wife was a Sailor too, which is how we met. It was a lot easier for her to understand the stress of Navy life than it is for most close friends and dependents.
