How did Scrooge impact family and friends?

The story aims to show that Scrooge changes when his present life is shown to lead to an after life where he would walk the earth in misery. The changes brought about by the Ghosts lead him to reconsidered what really is important in his earthly life and that money is not always the bringer of happiness, indeed in his case it was bringing misery. By allowing some of that money to go to make others lives better he feels a great sense of peace and happiness.
