You truly get to smell the air and feel the wind on your face. You will end a long ride feeling like you have been somewhere, not that you have only driven through it and observed. If you are in the market for a motorcycle and have never purchase one before, you should be ready to talk to motorcycle dealers to get the best bike for your needs.

First, tell motorcycle dealers how many people will usually be on the bike. If it will just be you, without any passengers, there are bikes that are best for one person alone. If you will be riding with another person -- your husband or wife, for example -- you may need to get a bit bigger bike. While you may be able to cram two people onto a small bike, the ride would not be nearly so comfortable or enjoyable as it would be with the right style of bike that was meant for both of you.

Next, tell motorcycle dealers how far you plan on going. Some bikes are designed to have a lot of speed over a short distance. They are very quick and look sporty. Others are made to give you a comfortable ride no matter how far you have to go. They are a bit bigger and do not look so fast, but they will be tremendously better if you are taking them on the open rode for days or even weeks on end. You will want to explain your plans to the motorcycle dealer so that they can show you which bikes you would be most interested in.

Whatever you do, do not just go in and purchase the first bike that catches your eye. All bikes are not the same. Motorcycle dealers are very knowledgeable and can explain to you which bikes you should be looking at so that you can get the most fun and enjoyment out of your purchase in the end.
