Jonathan Browning, a 19th-century American inventor and gunsmith, had two wives. His first wife was Elizabeth F. Smith, whom he married in 1826. After her death in 1837, he married his second wife, Mary Ann L. Smith, in 1839. Together, they had several children and lived in the Nauvoo, Illinois area during a significant period of Browning's life.
