What is cryptomitosis or pseudomitosis?

Cryptomitosis, also known as pseudomitosis, is a form of cell division that occurs in certain organisms, particularly in some protozoa and lower organisms. Unlike the typical mitotic process, cryptomitosis lacks distinct stages such as prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase. Instead, the nucleus divides in a more simplified manner, often resulting in a less organized segregation of genetic material. This process is considered a primitive form of cell division compared to standard mitosis.
