Do shock collars work on training puppies?

Shock collars are NEVER the way to train a dog, especially a puppy. Puppies are very sensitive to the world as it is; add an electric shock every time they perform a certain task and you will have, not a trained dog, but a dog that is insecure and, therefore, more likely to act aggressive. Shock collars are part of what is called negative reinforcement training, where something bad happens to the dog if they do not do what you want. Negative reinforcement teaches your dog to do what you want because they fear you. Positive reinforcement teaches your dog to do what you want because they get something good and they want to please you. Positive reinforcement is always the way to go with training. You and your dog will be much happier.
