If you dyed your hair black several months ago and the dye is starting to fade and the roots show for several inches can you use a dark brown dye kit to get it back to its original color?

If you want your hair to be brown, I'd suggest you use a 9 vol hydrogen peroxide solution to take the black dye off, then proceed with the brown dye. If you just put the brown on, it won't change the black.
