What was Benjamin's attitude toward the rebellion in animal farm?

None of you has ever seen a dead donkey". Which you could interpret as him saying he has a long term view on Animal Farm and doesn't see it improving, and that he's smart enough to see what's going on and because of that, he isn't dead yet.
