Social cleanliness is the first level of infection control and includes washing with a soap substance or alcohol and maintaining high standards of personal hygiene. Further measures to prevent the spread of infection include decontamination and sterilization. Some regular hygienic practices may be considered good habits by a society while the neglect of hygiene can be considered disgusting, disrespectful or even life threatening.
