How to go about getting a painting appraised?

1. If you know the artist's name, you could look it up online.
2. Be careful if you take it to a dealer because they may low-ball the price in order to buy it from you and then turn around and sell it for A LOT more!
3. If you have a museum in your area, you could ask there. Or email a museum with a picture.

Can you tell me if I have an original or a print of Celia Russell's Cottage Garden Bouquet? I bout a framed painting about 50cm x 50cm at an Op. Shop in Sydney Australia and looking at it through the glass it looks like an original.

Would you know by whom the original would have been bought and when and coult it have ended up in a Sydney Op Shop?
