What is the main theme in The Scarlet Ibis?

The main theme of The Scarlet Ibis is that pride has two sides to it: life and death. The narrotor's(Doodle's brother) pride gets the better of him, as he tries to show and force Doodle to do things he know he can't accomplish. This eventually leads to Doodle's death.
