What was one of Michelangelo's major works?

Michelangelo is best known for painting the Sistine Chapel; however, some of his other famous works include the statue of David, and the Pieta, a marble statue of Mary holding the body of her son Jesus on her lap. Michelangelo was also the architect of the Laurentian Library and the later stages of St. Peter's Basilica, in Rome.
