Most major banks now offer text alerts on suspicious purchases as an option, particularly as a premium credit card service. RBS, Barclays, Lloyds and the Co-op all offer this service at no extra cost, but the text-message system is under some criticism as it is beginning to become the primary communication interface with customers.
