Miley Cyrus' grandfather was Ronald Ray Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus' father. She was very close to him and legally changed her birth name from Destiny Hope Cyrus to Miley Ray Cyrus in honour of him (she was nicknamed Smiley as a child, which then became Miley).
