The skylark's life cycle begins with the female laying 3 to 6 eggs in a ground nest, typically in grasslands or open fields. After an incubation period of about 10 to 14 days, the chicks hatch and are dependent on their parents for food. They fledge within 10 to 12 days but continue to be cared for by the adults for several weeks. Skylarks usually reach sexual maturity at around one year of age, allowing them to reproduce in subsequent breeding seasons.
