Some amphibians, such as frogs and salamanders, are able to exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide through their skin in a process known as cutaneous respiration. This adaptation allows them to absorb oxygen directly from the environment, especially in moist conditions, as their skin is permeable to gases. Additionally, certain species of reptiles and some fish also exhibit limited skin respiration, though it is most prominent in amphibians.
