What is Russian animal gerb?

The nearest thing I can find is Gerbe's Vole - a kind of small mouse like animal that inhabits lower Europe. - There are literally thousands of species of voles and mice in Europe, so it's very difficult to pin down one. It's also quite easy for even accomplished naturalists to mis-identify a species.
