This response is based on the set of CTQ (critical to quality) our team framed for one of our client. CTQs are of three types

1. Defect based CTQ

2. Yield based CTQ

3. Boolean based CTQ While setting the benchmark for quality standards for a deliverable,

CTQ comes in handy to set the limits with the help of numbers. For instance: If a quality requirement insists

There should not be more than 2 typos per page of the documents delivered

This a defect based CTQ, that means if there are either zero, 1 or 2 typos per page and not more

than that, then the CTQ is met, else is not met Similarly there are Yield based and Boolean based CTQs.

These CTQs are mostly set during the project initial stage and the development teamwork towards to achieve them.
