Is it rude to interrupt a lunchtime chat in a restaurant to take a call on a cell phone?

If you are eating with someone else, it's rude to ignore them while you text. It would be okay to text if you're alone at the table (for example, your date goes to the bathroom) or you and your company agree to text someone who's not there (settling a bet, verifying a story, checking with the babysitter.)
