でも (demo) is the Japanese equivalent of 'but'. でも can only be used at the start of a sentence. To join two sentences with the conjunction 'but,' you should use either けど、けれども、けれど、or が.

When でも is added to the end of a question Word (何、いつ、ãã‚Œ), it changes the Word to 'any-'. For example: ãã‚Œ [dare](who) → ãã‚Œã§ã‚‚ [daredemo](anybody).
