To play rummy effectively as a beginner, you should know these basic rules:
- The goal is to form sets or runs of cards in your hand.
- Each player is dealt a certain number of cards from a standard deck.
- You can draw a card from the deck or discard pile on your turn.
- You must discard a card at the end of your turn.
- A set is three or four cards of the same rank, and a run is three or more consecutive cards of the same suit.
- The game ends when a player goes out by forming sets or runs with all their cards.
- Points are scored based on the cards left in your hand when someone goes out.
