What is scleritis?

Scleritis is an inflammatory condition affecting the sclera, the white outer layer of the eye. It can cause significant pain, redness, and vision disturbances, and is often associated with systemic autoimmune diseases. There are different types of scleritis, including anterior and posterior, with anterior being the most common. Treatment typically involves anti-inflammatory medications, and in severe cases, immunosuppressive therapy may be needed.
