What happened to Martha on Doctor Who?

On the season final of season 3 (Utopia/The sound of drums/The last of the time lords) Martha's family are traumatised of the event and Martha decides to stay with her family. She gives the doctor her mobile to call him if she needs it. And brings him back to earth in season 4.
