What is the asean day?

First, ASEAN is not some person's name; it's the abbreviation for an organization: the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. This organization is now made up of ten countries in the southeast Asian region of the world, who have pledged to cooperate in trade, the economy, and in promoting more friendly relations among their people. ASEAN's founding document, the Bangkok Declaration, was signed on August 8, 1967 by the organization's five founding member countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand). To this day, August 8th is celebrated as ASEAN Day.
