Paint first or refinish floor first?

Protect your floors with carpenters paper, and paint the walls first. Then, once dry, sand the floors and stain them.

If you stain them first, then paint the walls, you risk damaging the floors while painting the walls, and may have to re-sand and stain them again.

However, if you are a contractor, really it has to do with the availability of your subs.
