Lexapro is an SSRI, wheras Valium is a benzodiazepine. Think of lexapro as a drug that will change your mood in the long term, wheras Valium is more of a quick fix. That is why it is prescribed for things like panic attacks and the like. Valium will give you a buzz, lexapro wont!
