Why is unoka who dies of swelling in the stomach left to die in Things Fall Apart?

Unoka is carried to the evil forest and left to die from his swelling because:

• He is expected to die from his swelling
• Swelling is indicative of disease
• It is tradition
• The tradition is probably based on good health measures, since an infected body is prone to affect others
• It is unhumane to bury someone while they are still alive.
• People don't use the Evil Forest
