Active Reader

They are doing something when they are reading

They predict what is going to happen

They draw conclusions and figure things out

They compare and contrast

They evaluate and make decisions

They are thinking about what they are reading

They make inferences or guesses.

Passive Reader

Information is not registering

Not engaged in material

Does not ask questions

Not able to remember details

Not paying attention (rote reading)
