The amount of grains might depend on your age, sex, and level of physical activity. Most Americans consume enough grains, but few are whole grains. At least ½ should be whole grains.

Examples from USDA link below:

Women 19-50 years old = 6

Men 19-30 years old = 8

Men 31-50 years old = 7

In general, 1 slice of bread, 1 cup of ready-to-eat cereal, or ½ cup of cooked rice, cooked pasta, or cooked cereal can be considered as 1 ounce equivalent from the grains group. See USDA Link for more examples.
