Why would you need to have active listening to be a veterinarian?

Veterinarians provide a service (veterinary care) to clients (people who own animals). Active listening is more than just being quiet while someone else talks - it involves concentrating on understanding what the person is saying. This helps veterinarians a great deal, as clients who have sick pets can often describe what happened. This helps the veterinarian figure out what tests to run and what examinations to perform, allowing the veterinarian to diagnose and hopefully treat the animal faster and better.
