Where in America do lightning bugs live?

Lightning bugs, or fireflies, are found throughout most of the United States, particularly in warm, humid areas. They thrive in fields, meadows, forests, and near wetlands where there is ample moisture. Regions with temperate climates, such as the Midwest and the Southeast, are especially abundant with these bioluminescent insects during the summer months.
