Here are all my answers from Puzzle Island. I just found this book recently and haven't looked at it in ten years, but I still remember everything. I would encourage you, though, if you just got the book, to figure it out for yourself. It really is a fun puzzle and I got loads of entertainment from it. I do have the answers here for those who never got a couple things. The left, right, up and down directions of the animals hidden are directionally from the book as if you were reading it. Find the spots and then turn it if you have to. If you turn it first, then the directions will all be off. Animals (starting from top border going clockwise) Puzzle Island: Cat: reflection in the pond of the elephant (upside down) Hen: upper part, to the left a little, the leaves and branches (turn to the left) Dog: left side, tree branch (turn to the left) Cow: lower left of the center, where the monkeys sit (upside down) Beach of Shady Palms: Ape: far lower right Owl: right palm tree, where the branches attach to the tree Fox: just above the middle and a little to the left, mountain and the leaves/red birds (upside down) Pig: far left, the sign and leaves and curved tree, (turn to the right) Rainbow Waterfall: Crow: far right, just below the right landing where a root is coming out of the landing's side (turn to the left) Moth: far lower left, just above and to the left of the full flower Lamb: far upper left, in the branches Hawk: upper part and to the left, the tree trunk Volcano: Lion: a head in the erupting lava Swan: lower right of the volcano, kangaroo's ears help make the neck (turn to the right) Tuna: upper left, in the tree branches Seal: lower left, just to the left of the base of the volcano Lightening Tree Canyon: Frog: the top of the lightening tree, a green snake makes the top of it Stag (an adult male deer): the mid trunk of the tree (turn to the right) Hare: upper right, the sky between the mountain and a tree branch (turn upside down) Wolf: to the right of the lion's face, the snakes make the feet (turn upside down) Garden of Statues: Crab: far left, the top dying flower Horse far upper left, in the tree leaves Heron: just below the naked lady where it says "Garden of Statues," in the base of that (turn upside down) Snail: just below and to the right of the boy on a whale, to the right of the peacock Deadly Desert: Stork: far right, in the prickly tree Robin: low middle, just below on the left side of the "DEADLY DESERT" sign, in the branches of the little tree, to the right of the small cactus (turn to the right) Whale: the right side of the large cactus, the snack helps make the tail, (this is huge, turn to the right) Rhino: the upper part of the far right, in the rocks just below the big bird (turn upside down) Cave of Dreams: Lizard: upper left, just below the cave part, in some leaves Walrus: upper left, in the cave part, lover right of the cave part, above and to the left of the bear's head Mouse: low far left, in the lighter green leaves (turn slightly to the right) Pigeon: just above the bear's foot, the bee is an eye (turn to the left) Forgotten Valley: Dolphin: far upper left, between two crooked trees Ostrich: immediately below all the branches with berries on them, immediately above the middle dinosaur in the water (turn to the left) Lobster: far lower right, the lower right orange flower (turn to the right) Pelican: the right side of the left large mountain, just below where three berries are almost vertical Lily Pond: Lovebird: the butterfly Flamingo: just under water, right side, the seaweed makes the wings (turn to the right) Starling: little on the right of the upper top, third visible leaf from the right (turn upside down) Chipmunk: far lower left, underwater, between the three left goldfish (turn upside down) Elephant's Waterhole: Goldfish: far left, a little above center, the branches of the trees, just between and to the left of the two red birds Dragonfly: reflection in the water, just below the left baby elephant Mynah bird: just under the blue birds' heads, the land forms it, the two palm trees are the feet (turn upside down) Dinosaur: far left, just below center, the lowest branch (turn upside down) The message with symbols says: Look carefully at my diary in each pencil sketch. Hidden letters spell Words which will form a helpful message. SOOOOO look at each pencil sketch on each page and this message forms: Puzzle (the balloon, upside down) Island (the left middle branches) is(elephant's trunks) the(far right tree branches, upside down) home (inside the tail of the snake, the branches) of(upper left, in the feather) the (needles of the left side of the trunk, between the two branches) world's (slightly to the right of one of the divisions in the spiderweb, turn upside down) last (millipede's legs) female (the upper right of the butterfly) dodo(the head feathers of the bird, turn to the right). It's a dodo bird! "Now, can you spot WHERE it is hidden? It is not under cover!" Huge clue here, but if you still don't get it then here's the other coded message answer. I am hidden on the front cover of the book. If you cannot find me, look in the border for the letters that spell my name. Join the letters that match, from the center of each square. My eye should be where the two lines cross. On the front cover, turn the book upside down. The d to a d forms one line. The o to the o forms the other. Where they cross is the eye. Now for the poem. The place where the dodo is to go is MAURITIUS. This is an island in the Indian ocean. The real name of Ambrose Fogarty is Paul Adshead, the author of the book. His name is on the back cover and is spelled out by the tassel of the rope. That's it. There's all the answers for you.
