Does playing music affect the rate at which chickens lay eggs?

I've read in a factual book and seen somewhere online that chickens do lay more eggs when certain music is played near them.

I too read that it does and anything that helps is worth a try. I have had the radio tuned to local country station for four years now and a side benefit is that the radio going overnight helps keep the larger predators away. I am not sure that egg production is any better but I am sure the hens are calmer.
