How many characters are there in Pokemon?

150 from the beginning, then 250 in the 2nd generation. There are 386 in the 3rd generation and 493 in the fourth.Finnaly, there is a New RECORD BREAKING 694 Pokemon whitch I belive has now overloaded the pokedex!
