What is the fastest mass-produced car?

The fastest production car in the world is the SSC Ultimate Aero TT. Shelby Super Cars plans to build 50 of these amazing machines between 2008 and 2010. Top speed is 257mph with a 2.78 second 0-60mph time.

How ever, production and mass produced mean two different things. Production means that more than one is being made and they all have the same options. Mass produced means that over a period of 3 years, at least 1000 models will be produced.

That being said, the Corvette ZR1 is the fastest mass produced vehicle ever made. Top speed of 210mph (expected to reach at least 225mph, but has not been attempted yet) and 0-60mph time of 3.2 seconds. Chevrolet is going to produce approximately 2000 units per year.
