What is The Trigger Event?

In general, the trigger event is the event that causes something to happen.

For example, the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Australia on June 28th, 1914 in Sarajevo is said to have triggered the 1914-1918 World War.

In technology, a trigger event might start recording a sequence of measurements with an oscilloscope, logic analyzer or similar instrument. Each such instrument defines a range of possible trigger events. For example, an oscilloscope may trigger at a sudden change in the signal level of one of the monitored signals, a logic analyzer might trigger with the occurrence of a certain pattern on a number of monitored signals, etc.
