No, Silica Gel absorbs moisture from the surrounding environment, so it would deprive the house plants of moisture. Silica Gel needs to be heated in excess of 220°F in order for it to release the absorbed moisture. Silica Gel does have a wide variety of uses around the house, though, including drying cut flowers and preserving stored leather products.
