There are many variables concerning how long a car will last. The average life expectancy of an automobile today is around 13 years. That translates into 165,000 to 200,000 miles. A car that is well maintained according to what is listed in the owner's manual and all service performed on schedule can last much longer. But a car that is neglected and not well-maintained will not last near that long. Environment also plays a part in the life expectancy of an automobile. Cars in the far north do rust out quicker than cars in the south. Cars near the ocean also have a problem with rust. So it all depends on where you live, how you drive your vehicle, and how you maintain that vehicle. I am presently am driving a 1999 Toyota Tacoma Pre-Runner with 140,000 miles on the odometer. It runs perfectly and does not look it's age. I maintain this vehicle properly and expect to easily get 300,000 miles out of it and maybe more. It is 13 years old and nowhere near the end of it's life.
